Lan Wandered

Hey there, I’m Allan, you can call me Lan for short. I was born and raised in the Philippines. I am a Mechanical Engineer by profession and specializing in the field of reliability & condition monitoring technologies such as vibration, lubrication & thermography. Furthermore, I am quite a believer in “Dare to live the life you always dreamed of, travel with no regrets”. Thus, here I am ecstatically sharing my passion & experiences in wandering the world.

Traveling has been part of my goal. I love to discover new wonders, be mesmerized by magnificent landscapes, chase beautiful sunsets, and learn different cultures and traditions. Moreover, it teaches me to enjoy life over possession and boosts my self-awareness, confidence, independence, freedom and problem-solving skills. By the way, I am an adventure seeker and like extreme activities, so you might see me Hiking in the Mountains, doing paragliding, scuba diving, zip-lining, etc.

Choose Philippines-Local Travel

My first major travel journey in the Philippines was on the beautiful beach of Calaguas Island in Camarines Norte in year 2015, followed by South Cebu in 2016, where I swam with whale sharks, was fascinated by Tumalog Falls in Oslob, and experienced canyoneering in Bajan, and then enjoyed the wonderful scenery of Kawasan Falls. In 2017, I was able to reach one of the top tourist destinations in the Philippines, “Boracay”. After this, I was ecstatic to explore more different places in our country, like Coron, Palawan, Baguio, Baler, etc. And since I love hiking, I also tried climbing different Mountains in the Luzon area, like Mt. Ulap in Baguio, Mt. Pinatubo Zambales, Mt. Batulao, Makulot, Gulugod Baboy in Batangas and Pico De Loro in Cavite.

International Travel

Since I was working as an Engineer, I was privileged to visit other countries with free travel & expenses. My first trip was to South Korea in 2015, where I was selected as a representative in our company branch in the Philippines for outstanding employee, thus meeting other delegates from other parts of the world. Then, in Singapore in 2017 & 2018, I was sponsored by my next company for training purposes. Hence, I am thankful for my previous employers for giving me those opportunities to travel at no cost. Meanwhile, I also traveled to Hong Kong in 2017 with my friends, this time it’s not free since it’s our personal vacation.

2023 & 2024 have been great years for me in terms of travelling since I was able to visit Georgia and Armenia in the same month in September 2023 (autumn) and come back again in Armenia in February 2024 winter. Experiencing these two countries firsthand was amazing and can’t be explained enough. Both countries are beautiful, and I got to experience the European vibe in a budget-friendly way while still getting the feeling of a perfect balance of convenience & a sense of adventure. Both countries offer a magnificent landscape with a unique & diverse culture, tradition and folklore. After travelling to this countries, I realize that I can actually travel alone. Hence, It motivated me to wander more around the world, and share my stories and experiences through this blog and my videos. In June, September, I visited the Avatar Mountain located in China particularly in the City of Zhangjiajie.

In my free time, I also tried to explore the amazing places in Saudi Arabia and discover its diverse rich culture and incredible natural wonders.

My Goal

Ultimately, I would like to explore and discover the world, and also for the world to see me fulfilling this goal. To my knowledge, there are very few Filipino descents who are able to make this come true, and I would like to be part of them. I would like to show the world that regardless of where you came from, traveling should be a freedom and not be restricted only to westerners, who we normally see on the road. I know it will be difficult because of my passport limitations, but with proper planning, I know it can be done. Likewise, I also hope to inspire others to do the same and step outside their comfort zone. Lastly, I hope that this blog serves as motivation and a guide for people who aspire to travel.

How I Started and Why I created this blog?

As a mechanical engineer who has a little background about website creation and designing as well as SEO. I never thought I could be able to do it. I also don’t know if I can really make a compelling story, as I was not born to be a good writer. One thing I know is that I want to preserve memories and document my travel. So, one day, I woke up, I just found myself spontaneously searching on how to create blog website and now in this journey. I hope my travels motivate you to set off on an epic journey, despite our busy schedules on our chosen paths.

How I finance my travel?

If you read my My Story , you know already that I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth, so I work really hard and save for my travel expenses. Currently, I am working as an Engineer OFW, based in Saudi Arabia, thus, most of my travels are from my own pocket. Every time I am available, I try to schedule and plan for my trip, either joining a group or doing solo traveling.

Other Passion

Aside from traveling, I am passionate about farming, in fact, I have a small farm in Calaca, Batangas.

Me Today

Although I am an Engineer, I feel drained sometimes. That’s why I am here on my blog to write something that I love. As much as I want to quit my job to do full-time traveling, I don’t think it’s for me. It is an enticing idea, but not for everyone, especially if you have obligations. I love to travel the world, but I don’t have a sponsor, so meanwhile, I need to work and save for my next travel journey. Anyhow, let’s see what the future holds. If things are in the right place already and have this chance, why not.
